Your Role
Gensler Detroit is looking for a dedicated Design Manager with 10+ years of corporate workplace interior design experience. At Gensler, our Design Managers are key to our design delivery model and management of our projects, orchestrating and providing oversight starting from the preparation of proposals until project handover. Just as important as your project management experience, you will also act as single point of contact for owners and consultants to ensure unparalleled client experiences.
What You Will Do
Implement one or more client projects through the leadership of project teams
Manage scheduling, budgets, staffing, and project set-up with clients, consultants, vendors and contractors
Prepare project proposals and negotiate contracts and fees with the assistance of senior leadership
Develop and manage project teams in conformance with approved work plans
Track and manage financial performance of project for success (e.g., work plan, schedule, fees, billings and collections)
Provide leadership to the team and client by communicating project objectives, contract scope, terms, and schedule
Support business development efforts and proposals
Your Qualifications
10+ years of experience having delivered exceptional interior design projects
Professional degree (Master or Bachelor) in Interior Design from an accredited program
PMP or other management certificate preferred
Knowledge of local building codes and structures preferred
Interiors/Workplace/Facilities management experience in all phases of projects through post-occupancy
Project fee assessment and management experience
Extensive knowledge of architectural/design principles and practices
Good communication and management skills
Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and sustainable building practices required. Portfolios should include at least 1 project with this particular focus, and candidates should be prepared to talk to this in their interview, especially built projects with LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL Building Standard, Fitwell and /or Net Zero Building certification
Experience delivering projects in Detroit preferred
Computer skills required: Microsoft Word, Project, and Excel, Strong AutoCAD, Revit skills preferred
