Job Description

The Resident Director (RD) is a year round, live-in, full-time professional staff member responsible for managing the day to day aspects of a first-year or sophomore residence hall. Assists in ensuring the safety of the residents, as well as build community in the hall. Make sure that students are cared for and connected to resources.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervising and developing staff that as a team purposefully develop community and residents, informing residents about pertinent community news/announcements and support their engagement in academic and co-curricular pursuits.
  • Mediating roommate conflicts and adjudicating possible policy violations.
  • Providing administrative oversight for the successful provision of services; and meeting the needs of freshman students.
  • Collaborate with other resident directors to provide leadership and direction higher education administration for Hall and Departmental Programs and Residence Hall Councils/Inter-Residence.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree Required; Masters' Degree preferred
  • 1-3 years' experience in residence life/student affairs
  • Knowledge of residential facilities, services and programs of Hall Government
  • Strong interpersonal/human relations/supervisory skills in relationship to college students
