Adjunct Instructor - Registered Dental Hygienist for Department of Oral Health Promotions

Creighton University School of Dentistry is seeking a Registered Dental Hygienist to support development and delivery of pre-clinical curriculum and provide support for the clinical curriculum for its dental students.

The 10-month, part-time (eight half days/week), non-tenure track Adjunct Instructor will work with a team of dedicated faculty and leaders who are building on a rich legacy of excellence in dental education and expanding our capacity as a national resource for the dental profession.

Primary appointment will be in the department of Oral Health Promotions and will include assignment as course director, co-director, and guest lecturer for departmental content which includes but is not limited to; electronic health record utilization and record entry, infection control, radiology, behavioral sciences, special needs and four handed dentistry. Limited clinical assignments will be established by the Department Chair in support of radiology and general clinic operations.

Candidates must possess:

  • A dental hygienist license.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Familiarity with PowerPoint and other educational tools and course content platforms.
  • A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a collegial, interdisciplinary environment.

Position responsibilities include:

Instruct dental students in content which includes but is not limited to; electronic health record utilization and record entry, infection control, radiology, behavioral sciences, special needs and four handed dentistry during the spring and summer terms. Additional assignments as assigned by the Chair of the Department of Oral Health promotions may include but is not limited to supervising students in the dental clinic when performing imaging procedures, or during periodontal exams, recalls and periodontal therapies which fall within the scope of practice, provide guidance and monitoring clinical compliance of students as to OSHA, HIPAA, and FERPA guidelines and participation in the instruction of freshman and sophomore dental students in the periodontology preclinical laboratories.

Qualifications:
  • Candidates must possess a current Nebraska dental hygienist license
  • Five years Clinical experience
  • Teaching experience preferred
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a collegial, interdisciplinary environment.
