Position Purpose:

Are you ready to make your mark? If you're a Global Sourcing Manager - Capital & Tooling, we have an exciting opportunity for you. In this position you will manage the global supply base to maximize performance and leverage to positively impact financial performance of all Woodward business groups. Includes all aspects of commercial and contractual management of the assigned suppliers. Key focus is the selection and development of the supply base to match Woodward's future needs, but also includes support of the business group-based purchasing functions in the areas of strategic alignment and critical issue escalation.

What You Will Be Doing

Strategy Development (supply base/market knowledge, business integration, deployment planning, internal alignment, global awareness): Development of supplier level strategies or simple/medium sub-commodity strategies with oversite and review

Analytics (Business Objects and external sources): Apply basic interpretation of data to propose appropriate actions

Business Systems: Basic navigation of appropriate purchasing WISE applications and E-Biz environment

Contract Mgmt/Negotiation (type, development, execution, implementation, and process): Execution of existing standard T&Cs and WISE contracts

Contract Mgmt/Negotiation (type, development, execution, implementation, and process): Ability to understand premise outlined in LTA type agreements

Contract Mgmt/Negotiation (type, development, execution, implementation, and process): Effective participation on negotiations with lead on simple contracts

Compliance: Ability to understand and apply GS standardized tools and processes as provided in BDDS

Strategy Development (supply base/market knowledge, business integration, deployment planning, internal alignment, global awareness): Ability to understand complex commodity strategies and discern application to own work and strategies (flow-down)

Strategy Development (supply base/market knowledge, business integration, deployment planning, internal alignment, global awareness): Demonstrated ability to engage, align and gain support for developed strategies

Strategy Development (supply base/market knowledge, business integration, deployment planning, internal alignment, global awareness): Demonstrated ability to analyze and understand assigned sub-commodity(s) based upon known data relating to industry and market (capacity, raw materials, trends, existing suppliers, etc.)

Strategy Deployment (project management, metrics, goals, escalations - charter, etc.): Demonstrated ability to use proven project management skills to develop and execute a project plan on simple/medium complexity projects to achieve desired results

Strategy Deployment (project management, metrics, goals, escalations - charter, etc.): Conformance to standard processes and tools

Supplier Relationship Management (commercial management, internal coordination and alignment): Relationship management at a 1-1 or 1-few complexity with relationships managed at similar or slightly higher level within supplier (level by responsibility, not title)

Supplier Relationship Management (commercial management, internal coordination and alignment): Typically transactional relationship

Analytics (Business Objects and external sources): Navigation of SPM tools and retrieval of pertinent information

Other Functions:

CI Process Development: Participation in internal CI efforts

Operate with Global Matrixed Structure: Effectively participate in global/remote teams

Operate with Global Matrixed Structure: Understand various roles and responsibilities across matrixed organization

Materials and Equipment Used:

  • MS Office Software
  • Basic Office equipment (copier, printer, fax, etc.)

Working Environment / Physical Activities:

  • Domestic and international travel required

Education or Formal Training and Experience Required:

Level 1 and 2

  • 4 year bachelor degree is required, advanced business degree preferred, purchasing (CPM, CPI, APICS, etc...) and project management certifications preferred
  • 3-5 years of purchasing experience
  • Experience in capital equipment and Tooling is a plus.

Level 3

  • 4 year bachelor degree is required, advanced business degree preferred, purchasing (CPM, CPI, APICS, etc...) and project management certifications preferred
  • 5-10 years of strategic sourcing experience
  • Experience in capital equipment and Tooling is a plus.
